End of Summer, Beginning of Fall Travel

I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but it’s been a little bit since I’ve posted on TravelShus. It hasn’t been for lack of trying – August was just a very busy month.

Though we spent most of the summer on the road on a marathon of weekend trips, we also moved into a new apartment in Brooklyn. And this one’s got a backyard! I really hate moving. I try to see it as a promise of a new everyday life, new favorite restaurants, and a fresh chance to *actually* keep things neat and clean. But it is HARD WORK.

All moving-hatred aside, I am happy about this change. Not only will we be able to enjoy some real live outdoor space while we’re here in NYC, but now there is finally a home for all the super cool outdoor souvenirs we’ve bought on The Trip. Like a hanging lantern purchased at a souq in SharJah, UAE. Or colorful string lights from the Sunday Walking Street in Chiang Mai, Thailand.

In addition to traveling and moving this summer,  I’ve been writing lots of articles for some other fantastic travel sites like Bootsnall, Expedition Underground, CheapAir.com and The Lost Girls World. If you missed these, take a look:

Looking Forward

Raindrops in My Backyard!

Raindrops in My Backyard!

Aside from enjoying some autumn backyardiness for the next few months, we”ll be heading out on the road, of course.

September takes me to Arizona, for a weekend of sunrises and photography in Phoenix and Scottsdale. I also hope to spend some time relaxing in the desert heat as the air is slowly turning colder in Brooklyn.

October takes both Matt and I to Turkey! This is a trip we’ve been thinking about for a long time. Turkey got lopped off the big RTW destination list in one of the final rounds of decision-making, so heading there now will be a nice treat. We’ve got little planned now other than a hotel for the first few nights, but I’ll keep everyone up to date on our plans and definitely write about everything! And hopefully we’ll come back with some fun things to use in the yard.

New Writing Partnership

Back in the writing world, I’ve partnered with CheapAir.com as a featured writer! I’ll be writing something of a weekly column highlighting some of the world’s best destinations, as well as some personal favorites and lesser known locations. Check the CheapAir website to read my weekly contributions, but also, here are my first two articles of our partnership:

Intro Article: Why I Travel

First Destination: Hong Kong

There will be more travel, more articles, and more exciting things happening around NYC that I’ll reveal later on as it develops! In the meantime, here are some favorite photos of mine from ‘Summer 2012: Three Months of Incessant Weekend Travel.’ There’s plenty to write about from these trips, so stay tuned.
