Photo Inspiration: Cruz Bay, St John

Aside from stunning beaches and laid back culture, the brilliant colors of the Caribbean and Central America are what keep me coming back. Guatemala and Nicaragua have their colonial cities, islands like Tobago have their stunning blue waters and bright colored flowers.

St John, one of the US Virgin Islands, has quickly become my favorite island in the Western Hemisphere. I love that most of the island is a national park, which means completely natural undeveloped beaches, hiking trails, and very few hotels.

On my most recent trip, I decided to check out the main port town, Cruz Bay. Normally I stay as far away as possible from tourist centers, but since this island is quickly become a place I may return to over and over, I had to see what Cruz Bay is all about.

What did I find? Colors. Brilliant Colors – reminiscent of San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua but with a reggae-inspired edge.

The Virgin islands are really high on my list of places to go! Is nice to see some travel bloggers writing about this region rather than Asia as I can’t see myself going to Asia in the near future but love first hand reports on these places that are closer to home but still tropical!

I agree – there are some many amazing places close to the US. St John is definitely one of my favorites, along with the BVI, Nicaragua, and Tulum, Mexico for tropical spots… :)
