TravelShus Summer Travel

Summer’s almost here and thankfully, so are summer travel plans! I’ve planned a slew of short trips for the next couple of months, but I’m also excited to spend a lot of time in Brooklyn exploring the city. That sounds pretty weird considering I’ve lived in New York for a little while now, but something about long term travel has turned on my desire to explore my borough like it’s a brand new place.

After a short trip to Philadelphia for a family event, the summer officially will be kicked off in the Virgin Islands. Though not fully scheduled yet, our trip will take us to a combination of St. John of the US Virgin Islands, and Jost Van Dyke and Virgin Gorda of the British Virgin Islands. We’ll be staying at one of St John’s eco-resorts, in a tent, set on a hill overlooking Salt Pond Bay. Cant wait!

Is this what it will look like in the Virgin Islands?

The rest of the summer is filled with a lot of short trips to places all around the US:

  • Atlantic City, New Jersey
  • Saratoga Springs, New York
  • The Hamptons, New York
  • Two trips to San Francisco, California (my hometown!), but also a visit to Napa and Sonoma – California’s premier wine region
  • The Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Orlando, Florida (the inner child in me is giddy with anticipation. Yeah, I said it.)

Hopefully there will be more additions to the summer schedule as well, but we’ll have to see how it goes.

To celebrate the end of an amazing summer, Matt and I are heading to Turkey! We’ve planned none of it yet as its fairly far into the future, but we are fully welcoming any advice or ideas!

What are your plans? Will our plans overlap?

Oooo the Virgin Islands sound wonderful! I’d love to get down to the tropical parts since my husband has never been. Perhaps I’ll put that on our travel list for 2015 :-). Already have plans dreamed up for ’13 & ’14!

We’re heading down to California twice in June, we’re from the South Bay Area originally, for a wedding in Berkeley and a visit to San Diego, where I went to college.

In ’13 we’ve got Hawaii & Kauai, Vancouver Island, & Boston – the later of which we make into a road trip with lots of stops in the mountains on around the east coast if we can manage the time off.

In ’14 we’re looking at Portugal & Southern Spain as our big trip.

Aww, yah that would have been nice to meet up!

Will do! I’m bound to make it to NYC at some point. My mom lives about 45 minutes northwest of Albany.
