Postcards from a Florida Keys Road Trip

The Florida Keys couldn’t be set up more perfectly for a road trip than if I design them myself. The five major island groups are thinly stretched along Highway 1, starting at the tip of Florida and ending at Key West and the southernmost point in the United States. During our end-of-winter babymoon extravaganza, we planned to see the Keys via rental car road trip, with our home base being the Tarpon Flats Inn on the most northern island of Key Largo. We only made it as far as Bahia Honda National Park in Marathon on this trip – we are saving Key West for a time when I am able to fully enjoy its vibrant party atmosphere.

My favorite part of road tripping in the Keys are the colors. Bright colors on the island, insane blues in the water and the sky.

Everywhere we went, it was like a postcard or a still from a Florida Keys tourism commercial. I’m not sure what I expected going into the trip, but the islands did not disappoint me.
