Photos taken in Maia, Ribeira Grande, Furnas, and Ponta Delgada on the island of São Miguel.

Recommendations:
Furnas (our favorite place on the whole island)
- Azores Treetop Park (ziplines and ropes courses in the forest around Lagoa das Furnas) The owners are amazing people and made us feel like family.
- Poça da Dona Beija Hotsprings
- Espinha.Come – restaurant in the square for excellent Azorean lunch – try the fresh cheese!
- Steamed Corn from the souvenir shops – it’s cooked in the volcanic vents and is a sweet snack. The kids loved it.
- Salto do Cabrito waterfall – short drive and short (but steep) walk to the waterfall.
Ribeira Granda/Maia
- Solar de Lalém – historic buildings repurposed into a cozy feeling hotel. There is a 2 bedroom cottage available too for family stays.
- Gorreana Tea Factory – very touristic, but you can walk through the fields of well-manicured tea fields and self- guide through the factory to see how they process the tea leaves. Its an interesting short stop and the fields are beautiful and accessible.
Ponta Delgada
- Arruda Pineapple Plantation – nice stop for kids and for a glass of fresh pineapple juice
- Drive over to Villa Franca do Campo to visit Santuário de Nossa Senhora da Paz, a beautiful church on a hill above the oceanside town.
- Visit the village of Povoação for a small town lunch or a coffee on the square.
